Lao decries city hall over deception try

Ex-councilor says C de Oro officials made ombudsman believe that they released documents on big projects EX-COUNCILOR Teodulfo Lao Jr. has written to Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales to ask her to act on what he said was an attempt by the Emano administration to deceive graft investigators in connection with documents related to multimillion-peso projects undertaken by city hall. In a May 7 letter, a copy of which was furnished this paper yesterday, Lao accused city hall of misleading the Office of the Ombudsman in Davao into believing that he was already given copies of the documents he requested from the local government. "I was greatly amazed because they have the gall and audacity to decive the Office of the Ombudsman...," reads part of Lao's letter to Morales. He said he wrote to Mayor Vicente Emano last Nov. 22 to request for authenticated and certified true copies of contracts, memoranda of agreement, audit reports, payment receipts, bidding reports and other documents related to the construction and subsequent buyback of the Cogon and Carmen markets.
